gut aufgelegt

As part of the Graz Culture Year 2020, the Grrrls culture club has developed a special project.

The DJ workshop series “gut aufgelegt” combines DJ subculture with a feminist approach.

Gut aufgelegt“ is divided into three parts:

During the first phase, workshop participants will acquire the technical knowledge necessary for DJing as well as actively participate in the theoretical discourse.

In the second phase of the project, the Grrrls DJ Crew will organize performances for their new DJs while closely coaching them.

In addition to already established festivals and locations in Graz, we also want to develop new cultural spaces.

The third phase is the final event: a big public concert, in which all participating organisations and contributors to the project will take part.

Grrrls Night Out

In 2009, the first Grrrls Night Out (GNO) initiated the founding of the Grrrls Kulturverein.

Several times a year, this cross-divisional event series converts a common motto into various art forms (music & performance, fashion & styling, interior design) with a feminist tongue-in-cheek approach

This concert series takes place several times a year and presents feminist artists in various locations.

National and international live-acts perform alongside local heroines.

Our Grrrls DJ Crew is also a constant presence at these evening and accompanies them with their music.

Grrrls DJ Crew

The Grrrls DJ Crew, consisting of 11 performers, was founded in 2017 due to the underrepresentation of WLINT+ DJs in the (Graz) club scene and understands itself as an active contribution to lived equality.

The collective promotes young talent and holds workshops and DJ forums for exchange of knowledge and information, practice, experience and networking.

Grrrls* Jam

These monthly jam sessions offer room for WLINT+ people from the ages of 16 to 116 to try their hand at (new) instruments, to make music together (under instruction) and to compare notes.

No prior knowledge necessary – the only thing that matters is a desire to make music together.

Each evening will be instructed by local musicians from the Graz music scene.

The Grrrls Jam is scheduled to take place every first and second Tuesday of the month.

Registration via email to

YOUTH Grrrls* Jam

The youth format of the Grrrls Jam Sessions offers teen and adolescent WLINT+ people a testing ground to get to know electric guitars, drums & Co.

Prior musical knowledge is not necessary and anything goes, as long as it is fun.

For schools, youth centres etc. we gladly offer individually tailored workshops or YOUTH Grrrls Jam Sessions.

A journey through the world of feminist music

With the “Grrrls Night In” radio show we want to explore queer-feminist themes and concepts through selected musical examples.

Music from all genres that combines a feminist mindset is presented with background information on performers, their songs and the social context.

Grrrls Night In: every 2nd Friday from 21.00 – 22.00 & as a repeat every 2nd Sunday from 18.00 – 19.00 on Radio Helsinki.

You can listen to all episodes here!

In addition to our regularly hosted events the Grrrls Kulturverein also repeatedly organises exciting special events.

With creative workshops, inspiring feminist discussion and even co-operations with like-minded clubs we continuously expand our own club’s cultural calendar.

The Grrrls Culture Club regularly produces mixtapes with artists and feminist musicians who have already performed at our events.

Furthermore we offer a vast variety of items of exclusively designed Grrrls Fashion.

Grrrls Choir

The Grrrls Choir was founded in 2021:

Singers of any level and experience are invited to join together to sing. A special focus is put on providing compositions that are rewarding to sing for various for lots of different experience levels, as well as keeping the execution in the hands of an all-female artistical and organisational team.

New arrangements and compositions are provided to the ensemble by FLINT composers with relations to the city of Graz. Altogether there will be 4 chapters to the program, which will be presented as a stage production when complete.

Current information can be found on the sub-site https://chor.grrrls.at , and additional questions will be answered by mail via chor@grrrls.at . We will make sure to get back to you asap!
